The innovative project of the Institute reached the final of the competition Startup Village – 2015

June 2-3, 2015 Startup Village Conference was held in the Skolkovo innovation center (Moscow). The main purpose of the event - communication between startup founders and successful entrepreneurs, large industrialists, investors, government officials, business angels and experts not only from Russia but also from around the world.

More than 10 000 people participated in the Startup Village - representatives of startups from Russia, CIS and other countries, including more than 700 investors, venture capital funds and development institutions, governments and the media. More than 120 panel discussions, roundtables, mentoring sessions and master classes have passed at 11 bases. Investment attractive projects were attended by 350 teams During the competition. Startup Village was the logical culmination of Startup Tour – road-show of Russian development institutions, which was held this year in 12 cities, including Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation D.A. Medvedev visited Startup Village.

Young scientists from Ufa Eye Research Institute took 1st and 2nd places in the regional round with innovative projects, and took part in the Russian round. 2 projects were presented in the BIOMED track.

The project of researcher M.N. Astrelin from the Corneal and Refractive Surgery Department, "Device for sclera crosslinking " (M.N. Astrelin, T.I. Bikkuzin, S.V. Kharitonov) participated in the semi-finals of the track "BIOMED" in section of "Groundbreaking technologies in health care."

Junior researcher from the Vitreoretinal and Laser Surgery Department, M.R. Kalanov presented project "Dacryostream" - drainage for lacrimal surgery" from group of authors (Sh.R. Kuzbekov, S.V. Kharitonov, M.R. Kalanov). This project won the semi-final of "BIOMED" track in the section of "Control of infectious diseases" and became one of 29 finalists of Startup Village-2015.

"Skolkovo" foundation awarded M.R. Kalanov, and all finalists with the grant of 300 000 rubles, as well as with invitations to visit the IV Moscow International Innovation Development Forum "Open Innovations - 2015", which will be held in Moscow from October 28 to 1 November this year at the exhibition complex “Exhibition of Economic Achievements”.
